The Beginnings
Welcome to the Next Ten Months

Hello Dear Friends,

I want to start by saying that I am so thankful for the generosity and love that I have been shown at the beginning of this journey. God has blessed me so richly with amazing friends and family ,and I just wanted to let all of you know that I do not take those things for granted.

Starting Out
I have been an apprentice for a total of twelve days now, and I am already seeing the ways that God is molding me and preparing me for what is to come. Our first class for the apprenticeship is an introduction to the Old Testament, which involves reading the Old Testament in its entirety back to back. God is revealing so much about his nature and grace to me through these texts, and reminding me that I can put my faith in him. This is summed up in a verse I read about God saving Hagar and her son in Genesis 16:13. The verse says, “She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: ‘You are the God who sees me,’ for she said, ‘I have now seen the One who sees me.’”

Leader Training
We call our student leaders corefas; they are in charge of leading our small groups (core) and studying the bible with students among other things. This weekend we had our first training session. We came together and learned about how to reach out to new students coming onto campus. We also had time to play and have fun together. I got to meet six out of the eight women leaders that I will be meeting with this year. I am so excited to build relationships with them and to help them in thinking through difficult situations.

Looking Ahead
I can already see the ways that God is working at UTD, and I know his presence will be with us throughout the year. I have some prayer requests that I want to ask all of you to be in constant prayer for this month. Thank you in advance for your support.

Prayer Requests:

  • Pray that God will equip his leaders at UTD to reach out to new students
  • Pray for opportunities to reach out to international students on campus
  • Pray for God to bring in people who are willing and able to support me financially for the next ten months
  • Pray for our next two weeks of welcome at UTD. Pray that God could be at work in our hearts and in the hearts of the students coming to us.

Comments

  1. Sweet Hanna. You are in my thoughts and prayers in your new path with FOCUS. I am privileged to have you as a friend, and know what a blessing you will be to all of the students and staff you will work with.
